Baked Macaroni with Peas

1⁄2poundelbow macaroni (farfalle or other medium-sized pasta)
1cupfreshly shelled peas
1largeonion (finely chopped)
2clovegarlic (finely chopped)
3sprigfresh parsley (finely chopped)
  salt and pepper


Parboil the peas in salted water until tender. Drain. Heat the butter, add the onion and garlic, and simmer until the onion is soft. Add the parsley, salt and pepper. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in boiling salted water. Drain, and turn the pasta into a buttered casserole. Add the peas and the onion mixture, stirring gently but well. Bake the casserole in an oven heated to 300F for 15 minutes.
