Green Beans

1poundfresh young green beans
1tablespoonunsalted butter (or to taste)
  ground black pepper


Trim beans; rinse under cold running water, then drain.

Heat large heavy saucepan of well-salted water over high heat to boiling.

Add beans to boiling water; cover pan and return to boil. Immediately uncover; boil until beans are tender, 5 to 8 minutes. Drain beans well; return to saucepan. Toss with butter and pepper to taste, then transfer to warmed serving bowl. Serve immediately.
