Simple Tomato Salad

1⁄4cupbalsamic vinegar
1⁄2cupolive oil
  salt and ground black pepper (to taste)
2 1⁄2poundripe tomatoes (cut into wedges or sliced thin)
2tablespoonfresh basil (torn)


Whisk together the vinegar and oil in a small bowl, and season with salt and pepper. Arrange tomato slices decoratively on a plate. Drizzle with the vinaigrette, sprinkle with basil, and serve.
