Tomato Sauce for Pizza

2tablespoonolive oil
1⁄4cuponion (finely chopped)
1clovegarlic (minced)
1canpeeled tomatoes (about 28 ounces, drained and chopped)
  ground black pepper


Heat oil in small noncorrodible saucepan over medium heat until rippling. Add onion and garlic; sauté until onion is softened, about 3 minutes. Add tomatoes, salt, and pepper; cook until sauce is thickened, 8 to 10 minutes.
